Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

No — the quiz recommends types and categories (for example, 'mid-range variable-speed pump' or 'smart salt chlorinator with pH control'), not individual brands. The right brand depends on your pool, your preferences, what's in stock, and what your installer has strong service relationships with. When you book an assessment, we'll quote specific brands and models.
Because the running cost difference is dramatic — a variable-speed pump typically uses 60–80% less electricity than an old single-speed unit, paying back its price in 2–4 years. Unless you're on a hard budget constraint, variable-speed is the right call for almost every Australian pool.
Yes. Equipment can be upgraded at any time and is often done as a standalone project. That said, if resurfacing is also on your horizon, bundling them saves labour, downtime and trip fees. We're happy to quote either way.
Quality variable-speed pumps: 8–12 years. Filters: 10–15 years (cartridges need periodic replacement). Salt chlorinators: 5–8 years (cells need replacement every 3–5 years). Heat pumps: 10–15 years. Gas heaters: 8–12 years. Solar heating: 15+ years.
Not if the surface is in good condition and the chemistry is balanced. Salt chlorinators can accelerate wear on already-damaged surfaces and ageing pool coping, which is why we recommend resurfacing first if your surface is already failing. On a well-maintained surface, salt chlorinators are the standard in Australia for good reason.
Solar wins on running cost (nearly free) but only works when there's sun and roof area. A heat pump works in any weather, year-round, but costs electricity to run — roughly half the cost of a gas heater for the same output. For year-round swimming, a heat pump or a solar + heat pump combo is usually ideal.
