Blue Revive is the pool resurfacing arm of Paint Professionals — Marty's 30-year Adelaide surface-prep business. After years of pool-painting failures, we made a hard call: we stopped painting pools altogether and committed to doing the job properly.
Today we're Adelaide's only specialist pool resurfacing team, with rain-proof weather structures, in-house crews and a near-zero defect rate.
Marty's story
Martin Penney has been preparing surfaces and applying coatings for over 30 years. His background is large-scale commercial painting — multi-storey buildings, half-million-dollar projects, and competing against (and beating) the largest painting companies in the country.
Along the way, Marty trained 16 apprentices in-house and built a reputation for finishing jobs other companies wouldn't touch. He has spent decades trying to professionalise an industry that often cuts corners.
Why we stopped painting pools
Years ago, Blue Revive offered cheaper pool painting at around $8,000 per job. Around half of those customers eventually called us back with failures — peeling, chalking, chemical attack. It was killing our reputation and frustrating our customers.
So we changed the model. Today the average resurfacing job is $16,000 to $17,000, and the defect rate is near zero. The cost is higher upfront, but it's a fraction of the lifetime cost of repeat repaints. And our customers get a pool surface that actually lasts.
Why we work in the rain
Adelaide's weather can ruin pool projects scheduled in winter or shoulder seasons. Most pool companies just stop working. We didn't want to be one of them — so we built four weather-protection structures that we set up over the pool. They block rain, contain overspray and let us keep working in any weather.
