If you’re looking into pool resurfacing cost in Adelaide, you’ve probably been quoted anywhere from $6,000 to $25,000 and you’re wondering which number is real. The truth is both can be accurate depending on pool size, surface type and prep work required. This guide breaks down exactly what drives the price in 2026, what’s included in a proper quote, and where the cheap numbers come from (and why we stopped offering them).
What drives pool resurfacing cost in Adelaide
A full resurface is not one job, it’s six: drain, grind and prep, crack repair, primer coat, new surface, and refill. Each stage adds labour hours and materials. The pool resurfacing cost in Adelaide is driven by five things above all else.
1. Pool size and depth
A standard 8m x 4m pool has roughly 70 square metres of interior surface. A 10m x 5m pool with a deep end can push past 110 square metres. Every extra square metre adds material, grinding time and labour.
2. Existing surface condition
A pool with sound substrate and minor wear is far cheaper to resurface than one with delaminating plaster, cracked fibreglass or 40 years of paint layers. We see pools where the prep work alone takes five days because previous owners applied four coats of two-pack epoxy that all need grinding off.
3. Surface type chosen
Fibreglass flowcoat resurfacing, epoxy, quartz plaster and pebblecrete all sit at different price points. Pebblecrete is the premium option for concrete pools. Fibreglass flowcoat is typical for fibreglass shells.
4. Access to the pool
If we can reverse a ute to the pool edge, prep is fast. If we’re walking 60kg bags of aggregate through a side gate and down a sandstone staircase, that adds a day of labour.
5. Coping and tile work
Most pools built 25+ years ago have failing coping or cracked waterline tiles. Replacing these at the same time as resurfacing is efficient but adds to the quote.

Why pool painting quotes look cheaper (and aren’t)
You’ll see pool painting quotes around $6,000 to $9,000. We used to offer them. We stopped. Pool paint averages around $8,000 and has a callback rate close to 50% within three years. The paint fails, bubbles, peels or delaminates, and you end up paying twice. A full resurface costs around double but lasts 15+ years with a near-zero defect rate. What should be in your quote
A proper resurfacing quote from a specialist includes every stage, no hidden extras. Ours always covers:
- Draining and waste disposal
- Full mechanical grinding and surface preparation
- Crack repair and substrate bonding
- Waterproof barrier coat
- New surface application (multiple coats where required)
- Refill and initial chemical balance
- Written warranty
If a quote doesn’t itemise these, ask why. Cheap quotes usually cut prep, and prep is where a 15-year job becomes a 3-year headache. Martin has been training apprentices in surface preparation for 30+ years via our parent business Paint Professionals, and we’ve trained 16 in-house. It’s the part of the job everybody else gets wrong.
Getting an accurate quote for your pool
Every pool is different. Two 8m x 4m fibreglass pools can have a $4,000 price gap based purely on substrate condition. The only way to get a real number is an on-site assessment. We cover Greater Adelaide, the Hills, Gawler, Mount Barker and Victor Harbor, and we own four weather-protection structures so work can start any time of year. Check out our pool resurfacing service page for more detail on our process.
Common pool resurfacing cost questions
Why can’t you quote over the phone?
Two pools of the same size can have a $5,000 price gap based on substrate condition alone. We’ve been burned too many times by blind quotes that turned into arguments when the reality didn’t match the number. An on-site visit takes 45 minutes and gives you a real, itemised quote.
Do you charge for assessments?
No. On-site assessments are free across our service area — Greater Adelaide, Adelaide Hills, Gawler, Mount Barker and Victor Harbor.
How do I know if my quote is realistic?
Ask for an itemised breakdown. A proper quote should list every stage and every material. Vague prep work line items are the biggest warning sign of a cheap job cutting corners. Read about the full pool resurfacing process to know what should be included.
What warranty comes with a BlueRevive resurface?
Every job comes with a written workmanship warranty. Our near-zero defect rate means we rarely see warranty callbacks, but we back our work in writing. The 30+ years of surface-preparation experience and in-house training of 16 apprentices through Paint Professionals stands behind every resurface we deliver.
